The Boston Red Sox opened their Grapefruit League play on Saturday, February 21st with a 7-2 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Payton Tolle started Saturday's game for the Red Sox and pitched 2 innings, throwing 20 pitches. He allowed 1 hit, a home run and struck out a batter.

In the game Andru Monasterio went 1-1 with a solo home run for the Red Sox, He also walked.

Mikey Romero was 2-2 and Allan Castro was 1-2 with each scoring a run and driving in 2 runs.

Boston announced that Roman Anthony will be their lead-off hitter for the 2026 season and that Garrett Crochet will be the Opening Day starter.

The Red Sox will play the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, February 22nd. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and on 92.9 The Ticket. The pregame starts at 1 p.m. and first pitch is at 1:05 p.m.

The Red Sox are expected to send Brayan Bello, Garrett Whitlock,  Jovani Moran, Greg Weissert, Tayron Guerrero and Devin Sweet to the mound.

WDEA AM 1370 will air all the Spring Training games, with 92.9 The Ticket airing selected games.
