The Boston Red Sox shutout the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 on Thursday, March 26th in Cincinnati to start the 2026 season 1-0.

Garrett Crochet was dominant, pitching 6 innings and holding the Reds to just 3 hits. He walked 2 and struck out 8. He's now 1-0 on the season.

Justin Slaten pitched the 7th inning, walking 1 and striking out 2. Garrett Whitlock pitched the 8th inning, allowing a hit and striking out 2. Aroldis Chapman earned his 1st save of the season, pitching the 9th inning.

Roman Anthony, leading off was 3-4 scoring a run.

Marcelo Mayer came in as a pinch hitter and was 2-2 with a double. Jarren Duran who was the designated hitter was 2-5 with a run batted in. Trevor Story was 1-5 with a run batted in. Wilyer Abreu was 1-4. Ceddanne Rafaela was 2-4 with a run batted in. Carlos Narvaez had a hit.

Boston outhit Cincinnati 12-4.
