The Boston Red Sox beat the A's in Sacramento on Monday night, September 8th to move within 3.0 games of the 1st place Toronto Blue Jays with 17 games left to play in the regular season.

Garrett Crochet was dominant on the mound, allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 10 in 7.0 innings. He lowered his ERA to 2.57 and is now 15-5 on the season.

Zach Kelly and Chris Murphy each pitched 1 inning of hitless relief.

Trevor Story was 2-4 with a double and solo home run in the 1st inning, his 24th of the season.

Carlos Narvaez was 2-4 with a solo home run, his 13th of the season in the 5th inning.

Jarren Duran batting leadoff was 2-5 with a double and stolen base.

Alex Bregman was 2-4. Masataka Yoshida was 2-4.
