The Boston Red Sox fell to the A's 6-5 in Sacramento on Wednesday, September 10th as the A's scored the winning run in the bottom of the 9th inning after the Red Sox had tied the game 4-4 in the top of the 9th.

Aroldis Chapman took the loss. It was the 1st hit and run he had given up in 7 weeks. He's now 4-3 on the season and his ERA has increased to 1.14.

Kyle Harrison, who came over to the Red Sox from the Giants in the Rafael Devers trade, made his major league debut and allowed 3 hits, pitching the 6th, 7th and 8th innings. He didn't allow a run and struck out 2.

Payton Tolle started the game and went 2.0 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs, striking out 2 and giving up 2 homers.

Jarren Duran, Nate Eaton, Trevor Story and Rob Refsnyder all doubled for the Red Sox.

Boston didn't lose any ground in the AL East and Wild Card, as both the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees lost on Wednesday. Boston remains 3.0 games back from the Toronto Blue Jays and tied with the Yankees for the top Wild Card playoff spot.

Boston is off on Thursday, and will open a 6-game homestand with 3 games against the Yankees starting on Friday, September 12th. The pregame starts at 6:10 with the 1st pitch at 7:10 on WDEA AM 1370.
