The Boston Red Sox fell a game below .500 for the 1st time since the 1st week of the season, falling to the St. Louis Cardinals 10-6 on the road. The Red Sox are now 22-23.

Brayan Bellow, celebrating his 25th birthday, had an outing he'd like to forget. He lasted just 4.2 innings, allowing 7 hits and 5 runs. He struck out 4 and gave up 3 home runs.

The Red Sox bats, which were asleep much of the homestand came alive, banging out 12 hits, and they struck out just 4 times.


Connor Wong was 4-5, with a double. David Hamilton who was playing shortstop was 2-4 with 2 runs batted in. He had a double and triple.

St. Louis hit 4 home runs in the game.

Garrett Whitlock who was rehabbing experienced elbow tightness and has been shut down pending further medical testing.

Boston and St. Louis will play game 2 of the 3-game series Saturday night. The pregame starts at 6:15 p.m. with the 1st pitch at 7:15 p.m. on AM 1370 WDEA.
