The SPCA of Hancock County has a somewhat hidden treasure that's waiting for a forever home!

Peanut the tortoiseshell cat may look shy, but look again. This four year old wallflower is incredibly affectionate and gentle! She won’t come out of her cubby, but she’ll purr and purr when you talk to her. Not only that, Peanut will stand up and turn in little circles in her cubby, kneading the blankets with every step she takes. She wants you to know that even though the shelter is a scary place, she loves your attention

Peanut gets along well with the other cats in the community cat room. We think she would also be willing to live with a gentle dog.

Peanut is a gentle creature herself, and she seems to respond well to others who are gentle. We know it may be hard to tell when she’s tucked into her hiding spot, but Peanut is also absolutely beautiful! Her black and orange fur is sleek and soft. Come in and meet her! You might have to look around for a minute to find her, but once you do, you’ll see how precious she is.

Call the shelter at (207) 667-8088 to schedule a meeting, or just drop by!
