Attorney General’s Office Releases Details About Police-Involved Shootings

The Maine Attorney General's office has released the identities of those involved in a police-involved shooting over the weekend in Carmel. A Penobscot County Sheriff's Office deputy injured a 20-year-old Bangor woman after the suspect allegedly advanced on her with a homemade weapon.

WABI-TV reports Deputy Kari Kurth responded just after 9 a.m. Sunday to a report of a woman who was acting erratically on Route 2, near the municipal building. The woman was allegedly damaging property and threatening passing motorists with what police called "a homemade weapon."

Police say Alexis Lannon allegedly advanced on Kurth with the weapon when confronted by the deputy, who then shot her. Lannon was taken to a local hospital where she continues to receive treatment.

This is the sixth police-involved shooting this year.
