For the second Friday in a row, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Alert for Coastal Hancock County including Acadia National Park on Friday July 22nd from 11 AM to 11 PM.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risks. Those who are very young, the elderly and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as asthma and/or heart disease may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated pollutants.

The weather forecast for Coastal Hancock County on Friday calls for partly sunny skies with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Some of the thunderstorms may produce gusty winds and small hail in the afternoon. Highs are expected to be around 80. Winds will be out of the southwest, 10 to 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 35 miles per hour.
