Looking for something to do? The road with some of the most beautiful views in the country will officially reopen June 1.

Could this be a sure sign that things are getting better? We can only hope.

Acadia National Park will increase recreational access and services this coming Monday, June 1. That includes opening the Park Loop Road, the main artery that runs throughout the park.

According to an official Acadia National Park press release, beginning this Monday there will be open access to:

Park Loop Road and most associated restrooms.

Park rangers providing limited information services to the pubic in open air tents outside of the Hulls Cove Visitor Center.

In addition, Acadia concessionaires plan on the following:

The Jordan Pond House Restaurant will open June 1 for takeout (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Tables will be provided inside and outside.

The Jordan Pond House Gift Shop and the Cadillac Mountain Eco Store will open June 1 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) The Thunder Hole Gift Shop will open at a later date still to be determined.

Carriages of Acadia at Wildwood Stables is expected to resume some services mid-June.

To access the Park Loop Road and Acadia National Park, you must have a Park Pass, which can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce in both Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, including a few others as well.  You can also buy them online, and they must be printed out and displayed on the dash of your vehicle.

The popular carriage roads will remained closed until Friday June 5, when they will be opened for pedestrian use only.

Park campgrounds will remain closed and the Island Explorer Bus Service will not run at all this year.
