Ready to get the blood pumping? Want to start the New Year off with a cold dip into the Atlantic Ocean? For the 9th year in a row, the Tremont Fire Department will be hosting their Polar Plunge in Bass Harbor on January 1st. This year's event takes place at 10 a.m.

Not exactly sure where this is taking place? Put in 98 Lopaus Point Rd, Tremont into your Google Map and it will bring you right there.

The Tremont Fire Department reminds us that weather permitting they will have a bonfire and provide hot chocolate. The tide will be high but beach footwear is recommended. Although there will be a lifeguard onsite in a kayak, you should enter the event at your own risk!

If you're wondering when the 1st light will be in Bar Harbor on January 1st, sunrise is scheduled for 7:07 a.m.

And if you've never done this before because it's been too cold, the forecast for New Year's Day calls for mostly cloudy with rain, mainly in the morning. Patchy fog. Highs in the upper 40s.
