The #5 MDI Trojan's Baseball Team upset the #4 Cony Rams by a score of 7-6 in Augusta on Wednesday afternoon, June 5th.

MDI trailing 4-1 at the end of the 4th inning scored 2 runs in the 5th iinning and then 1 in the 6th inning to tie the score at 4-4. The Trojans then scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th and withheld Cony's comeback bid, as the Rams scored 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.

Freshman Preston Tripp started on the mound for MDI. He went 3 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs, walking 1 and striking out 1. Colin Sullivan retired 1 batter in the 4th inning, allowing 1 run, walking 1 and striking out 1. Spencer Grierson picked up the win. He pitched the final 3.2 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 runs, both earned, striking out 2.

Sullivan and Tripp each had 2 hits, driving in 2 runs, with Sullivan having a double and walking twice. Cal Hodgdon was 2-4. Nick Jacobs and Jacob Shields each had a single

Colin Sullivan had 2 stolen bases and Jacob Shields swiped 1 base.

Landon Foster started on the mound for the Rams. He went 4.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 runs, striking out 3 and walking 6. Parker Morin pitched the final 2.0 innings allowing 4 hits and 4 runs. He struck out 3 and walked 2.

Anderson Noyes was 3-4 batting leadoff for Cony. Trenton Hayward had 2 hits, driving in 2 runs. Parker Moring, Landon Foster, Tegan Hutchinson and Wyatt McKenney each singled for the Rams.

Cony's season comes to an end with a 11-6 record.

MDI improves to 10-7. The Trojans will play the winner of the #1 Ellsworth-#8 Hermon Quarterfinals in the semifinals.
