A day after being held to just 3 hits, the Boston Red Sox bats came alive, and they hit 3 home runs, as the Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-5 on Tuesday, May 7th in Baltimore.

JD Martinez hit his 5th of the season, and his 200th of his career, a 2 run shot in the top of the 1st inning. Xander Bogaerts hit his 7th of the season, in the top of 4th inning and then Mitch Moreland hit his team leading 10th homer, a 3 run shot in the top of the 5th inning.

On the mound Hector Velazquez started for the Red Sox, going 3.0 innings allowing 2 runs and  hits. He walked 1. John Walden picked up his 5th win of the season (5-0) going 3.0 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run, striking out 3. Brandon Workman pitched a scoreless 7th inning struck out 1. Ryan Brasier had a tough 8th inning going .2 allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. Matt Barnes pitched the final 1.1 inning for his 3rd save of the season striking out 1 and walking 1 and not allowing a hit.

The Red Sox are now 18-19 and 6.0 games out of 1st place, behind the Tampa Bay Rays. They are 7-3 in their last 10 games. They will play the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday night, in the final game of the 3 game series. Chris Sale will be on the mound for Boston. The pregame starts at 6:05 and first pitch at 7:05.
