Thanks again for reading these posts about our upcoming 25th wedding anniversary on June 25th! We have received a lot of positive comments, and great memories.

Today, I want to tell you how we got engaged. It was December 1987, and my wife, Bonnie and I had decided to celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas, leading up to Christmas, as it was the first Christmas we celebrating together. We had agreed that they were just going to be little gifts, fitting in our stockings.

The first couple of nights, it was the usual small Christmas gifts, the Pez Snowman, Dunkin Donuts gift card etc. Then, I decided that I would put the engagement ring in the stocking one night! I had purchased at Zales in the Bangor Mall, and I was NERVOUS! I had even asked them, what happens if she says "no", can I return the ring? They said sure, but didn't think that I would need to do that.

So that night, I put it in the stocking, and waited. I think I had wrapped it, and Bonnie new what it was the minute she saw the size of the box. I remember she started unwrapping it, and started to cry. I was praying that they were happy tears, and when I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me she said YES! I do remember after her saying that "I thought we agreed they were going to be small gifts". I told her it was small, after all it was going to fit on her finger and wasn't a boulder!

We called family, including my parents who were in London, England. It was a great Christmas!

Happy Almost 25th Anniversary Bonnie!
