1st Red Sox Hit of Spring Training is a Home Run
The Boston Red Sox beat the Northeastern University Huskies 6-0 in the first Spring Training game of the 2019 season, and the first hit of the season was a home run by Red Sox prospect Bobby Dalbec.
Dalbec, leading off the Red Sox half of the 2nd took a 1-1 count before blasting the home run. Dalbec, a third baseman played last year in Lowell for the Lowell Spinners,
Cole Sturgeon and Tate Matheny each had a double and Tyler Dearden had a triple for the Red Sox.
Mike Shawaryn picked up the win for the Red Sox, throwing 2 innings of 1 hit ball. Also pitching were Darwinzon Hernandez, Domingo Tapia and Josh Taylor.
The Red Sox will play the New York Yankees Saturday at 1:05 and then the Minnesota Twins on Sunday at 1:05. We will carry the Sunday game on WDEA AM 1370 with the pregame at 1PM.
