14 Hits 4 Homers Red Sox Outslug Angels 9-1
The Boston Red Sox bats were on fire Tuesday evening, as they rapped out 14 hits, blasting 4 homers en route to a 9-1 victory over the Angles in Fenway Park.
The Red Sox have played the Angels 4 times so far this season and in each of those games the Red Sox have had at least 14 hits! They have also hit 14 homers in those 4 games! On Tuesday, Mookie Betts hit his 20th homer, a lead-off shot. Christian Vazquez and Jackie Bradley Jr. each homered and JD Martinez hit his major league leading 24th homer. Martinez also leads the majors with 61 RBIs.
The Red Sox hit 6 doubles in the game in addition to the 4 homers. Martinez, Bradley Jr. , Vazquez, Andrew Benintendi, Brock Holt, Xander Bogaerts all recorded a double.
Every Red Sox starter with the exception of Rafael Devers had at least 1 hit.
On the mound, David Price picked up the win. He is now 9-5. He threw 6 innings, allowing just 5 hits, 1 earned run while striking out 7 and walking 2.
Prior to the game the Red Sox placed Steven Wright on the 10 day disabled list with knee inflammation retroactive to June 23rd and recalled pitcher Justin Haley
Meanwhile the Yankees remain .5 game ahead of the Red Sox in 1st place, after they beat the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday night 6-0
