In a statement game, Winslow defeated MDI 40-20, in a game that was much closer than the final score indicated. Winslow showed why they are the 2 time defending State Champions, scoring on MDI's 3 fumbles and running back a kickoff.

MDI showed that they are an upper echelon team in Class C North, scoring 20 points against Winslow who had only allowed 6 points in their 2 previous games. It's a game that leaves the MDI players and coaching staff saying "Could have, should have, would have" and hoping that the two teams will meet again in the Conference Finals.

Winslow won the opening coin toss and elected to receive. They took over at their own 34 yard line with 11:48 left in the 1st Quarter. The Black Raiders converted 1 1st down but the Trojan's defense stiffened and the Black Raiders had to punt.

MDI took over at their own 16 yard line and then fumbled the first of 3 that they lost on the day. Winslow took over on the MDI 24 yard line, with 7:55 left. Kenny Rickard scored from 5 yards out with 6:47 remaining in the 1st Quarter and Ryan Gagnon kicked the extra point to give Winslow a 7-0 lead.

MDI took over on the Winslow 33 yard, with 6:34 left in the 1st Quarter, thanks to a 47 yard kickoff return by Colby Lee. Croix Albee ran in from 6 yards out, and MDI converted the 2 point extra point when they direct snapped the ball to Colby Lee. With 3:29 left in the 1st Quarter MDI led 8-7.

Winslow came right back as Keanu Earle took the kickoff back to the endzone, scoring on a 88 yard kick off return. The 2 point conversion was no good, and with 3:16 left in the 1st Quarter Winslow was up 13-8.

MDI took over on their own 43 yard line with 2:53 remaining in the 1st Quarter, and Croix Albee scored his 2nd touchdown of the afternoon, running in from 9 yards out. The 2 point conversion was no good, and with 2:27 left in the 1st Quarter MDI was up 14-13.

Winslow took over on their own 35 yard line with 2:19 left in the 1st Quarter, and it was 19-14 Winslow, when Nate St. Amand ran in from 52 yards out. The point after kick was no good.

Like 2 heavyweight boxers, MDI traded punches with Winslow. taking over on their own 33 yard line with 1:22 left in the 1st Quarter. Chris Farnsworth ran in from 2 yards out and with the 2 point conversion no good, MDI led 20-19 with 8:51 in the 1st Half.

Winslow took over on their own 39 yard line and drove to the MDI 21 yard line, before they turned it over on downs with 6:19 left in the 1st Half.

MDI took over, and then fumbled on the Winslow 40 yard line with 4:36 remaining in the 1st Half. Winslow scored on a 14 yard pass from Gagnon to Dylan Hutchinson. St. Amand ran in for the 2 point conversion, and with 51 second remaining in the 1st Half, Winslow led 27-20.

MDI took over on its own 37 yard line to start the 3rd Quarter and proceeded to fumble it again, giving Winslow the ball at the MDI 48 yard line with 10:22 remaining in the 3rd Quarter.

Winslow scored when Rickard ran in from 10 yards out. The 2 point conversion was no good and with 7:06 remaining in the 3rd Quarter, Winslow led 33-20.

MDI took over and went on a long drive, before turning the ball over on downs, with 10:13 left in the game, on the Winslow 12.

Winslow then went on a long drive themselves, before Rickard ran in from 1 yard out, with 1:26 left in the game. Gagne's kick was good, and the final score was 40-20 Black Raiders.

MDI is now 2-1, and will play host to Hermon 2-1 on Friday, September 23rd in Bar Harbor in a game that will be broadcast on WDEA Internet Radio with the pregame starting at 6:40 PM.

Winslow 3-0 will play 3-0 Madison Friday night, September 23rd at 7 PM in Madison.
