The MDI Girl's Softball team pounded out 18 runs in the 3rd inning  en route to a 20-3 victory over George Steven's Academy in their mutual openers of the season in Blue Hill.

Darcy Kanu continued her torrid hitting in the preseason, going 2-4 with a home run, and a triple, scoring 4 runs and had 4 RBI's. Julianna Cleaves was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Molly Carroll was 2-4 with a double and 4 RBI's. Riley Mooers was 1-4 with 2 RB's. Haley Littlefield was 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Cassidy Parady was 1-2 with a RBI and Avalon Kerley was 1-4. The Trojans had 8 stolen bases, 3 by Cleaves, 2 by Kanu and one each by Mooers, Kerley and Parady.

GSA had 6 hits. Lily Cox was 2-3,  Katrina Limeburner was 2-3 and Andreanna Simmons and Olivia Stevenson were each 1-3.

Haley Littlefield pitched 5 innings for MDI, striking out 8, walking 1 and giving up 6 hits, 3 runs, 1 of which was earned.

Andreanna Simmons pitched for GSA, allowing the 20 runs, 5 of which were earned, 11 hits and struck out 2 while walking 5.

MDI is now 1-0. They host Foxcroft Academy in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 25th. GSA hosts Washington Academy on Saturday, April 25th
