MDI Boys Beat John Bapst 64-56 Despite Bapst’s 12 3-pointers [PHOTOS/STATS]

The MDI Boy's Basketball Team beat the John Bapst Crusaders 64-56 on Saturday afternoon, January 20th in Bar Harbor, despite John Bapst's 12 3-pointers in the game.

The Trojans went 8-18 from the free throw line in the 4th Quarter and received a huge 3-pointer from Jarron Biekert in the 4th to withstand the Crusader's attack

MDI led 15-10 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 28-19 at the Half. The Trojans were up 47-36 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

MDI was led by Jameson Weir, who had 16 points, 10 of them coming in the 3rd Quarter and 6 in the 4th Quarter. Spencer Laurendau and Cal Hodgdon each had 11 points. MDI drained 7 3-pointers. Freshman James Witham who shoots from what seems like Otter Creek swished 3 3-pointers. Hodgdon, Jacob Shields, Joey Wellman-Clouse and Biekert each had a 3-pointer. MDI was 11-24 from the free throw line.

Izak Robichaud had a game-high 21 points to lead John Bapst. Tyler Wilkinson and Tristen Martin each had 12 points. The Crusaders were 18-22 from the free throw line. Izak Robichaud and Wilkinson each had 4 3-pointers. Martin had 2 3's and Anes Omar, and Colby Haggerty each drained a 3-pointer.

MDI is now 6-6. They will host Orono on Tuesday, January 23rd at 7 p.m. Prior to the game, the 8-man State Champion MDI Football Team will be honored and presented with the State Championship Banner. Pregame will start at 6:40 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA. on WDEA Internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
