Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers... They're great if you're a bakery, but awful if you're a football team! That was the case Friday night, as the Ellsworth Football Team had 7 turnovers, and Mattanawcook Academy took advantage, defeating the Eagles 58-8 in the opening night of the 2016 Football season.

The score was 35-8 at the end of the 1st half with 21 of the Lynx's points coming off turnovers.

For Ellsworth, Connor Crawford was 5-15 passing for 59 yards with 2 interceptions and a fumble. He also had 9 carries for 75 yards and scored on a 2 point conversion.

Jacob Shorey had 17 carries for 77 yards and touchdown. Declan White carried the ball 10 times for 19 yards. Chris Fickett had 1 catch for 35 yards and Declan White had 1 reception for 12 yards.

Ellsworth travels to Orono on Friday, September 2nd to take on the Red Riots at 7 PM while Mattanawcook plays host to Dexter Friday, September 2nd at 7 PM.
