The Maine Maritime Women's Basketball Team started the season 1-0 with a 87-62 win over St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, New York on Friday, November 10th.

MMA led 20-5 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 46-20 at the end of the 1st Half. It was 66-38 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

The Mariners had 3 players in double-figures. Erianna Moore had a team-high 19 points while Maria Barela had 14 points. Sydney Briscoe had 12 points.  Both Briscoe and Moore had double-doubles with Moore ripping down a game-high 16 rebounds and Briscoe having 12 rebounds, including 7 offensive boards.

Maine Maritime Academy shot 29.9 percent from the field, going 26-87. They were 13-46 from beyond the 3-point arc and 22-28 from the free throw line.

Kristen Donovan led all scorers with 20 points. Grace Kennedy had 15 points, Destiny Hurt 13 points and Mercedes Perez 10 points for St. Joseph's .

St. Joseph's shot 22-66 from the field and were 13-37 from beyond the 3-point arc. They were 5-8 from the free throw line.

Maine Maritime Academy will play John Jay College in New York on Saturday, November 11th at 2 p.m. The Mariners will play their home opener on Tuesday, November 14th when they host Bowdoin College at 7 p.m. Bowdoin College is coached by former MDI Trojan Megan Phelps.
