Ever since I was a kid watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade balloons fill up and float down the roadways I have been fascinated by balloons.  Last weekend I finally got to see a group in person and it was wonderful.

The Great falls Balloon Festival has gone on for 23 years and draws balloonists from all over the country.

My favorite, Jewell the Hummingbird weighs in at 750 lbs and is100 feet tall. She fills out to 110,000 cubic feet and she takes more than double the space to launch than a standard balloon.

What a spectacle ! We also took a tour of the Peter and Paul Basilica while we were waiting for the launch time to come. All in all a great day and the weather was great.
