It's the last week of July and we're getting ready for the dog-days of August, and chances are the kids are bored from being out of school. If you're looking for some family-friendly, fun and free events this week, we have these listings for you!

Monday July 24

  • Bar Harbor Town Band - Will perform at the Village Green from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place at the First Congregational Church

Tuesday July 25

  • Ellsworth Public Library - Kids Yoga on the Lawn 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Join Miss Genevieve of Bala Bee Yoga on the library lawn for song, creative playful movement games, a mindful activity, breat works and yoga poses.   • Bar Harbor - Jesup Memorial Library - Baby and Toddler Time - 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Join Abby for fingerplays, songs, and stories! Older siblings are welcome to join in
  • Ellsworth Public Library - Computer Tutor - Need help setting up your email or creating a word document? Reserve an appointment with a computer expert. Available 1 p.m to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m. Call 667-6363 to reserve your appointment
  • Southwest Harbor -Judy Taylor - Painting the Model on the Lawn Demonstration -5:30 p.m. - Join the Southwest Harbor Public Library on the lawn of St. John's Church for a demonstration by Judy Taylor how she lays in a portrait or figure painting using a live model.

Wednesday July 26

  • Southwest Harbor Public Library - Baby Story Time 10 a.m.-10:30 a.m.  Join Amanda for stories, songs, rhymes, books, bubbles, and more outside in our children's garden. If there is inclement weather, storytime will be held inside the library in the Holmes room. Baby Storytime is designed especially for babies under two years, but we are family friendly and we welcome siblings.
  • Bar Harbor - Jesup Memorial Library - Middle School Crafternoon -3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Middle Schoolers: join the Jesup for a laid back crafternoon. Tweens ages 9-13 are welcome. They'll provide the art supplies and you supply the creativity! Snacks will be served. If you have any questions, please contact Abby (amorrow@jesuplibrary.org)
  • Southwest Harbor Public Library - Fire Keeper's Daughter Book Discussion about Girl Power and Gender Equity 5:30 p.m.  Book discussion with Pamella Kalner about Fire Keeper's Daughet by Angel Boulley. For more information Click HERE
  • Ellsworth Public Library - Mad Science of Maine 6 p.m to 7 p.m. Mad Science of Maine will bring to life some of the great scientific discoveries born out of collaboration and partnership. They will also relate the strength and importance of human bonding to the nature of chemical bonding through some chemical reaction experiments.
  • Ellsworth Concert Band -The concert take place at the gazebo in Harbor Park. The Band practices at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night, followed by the concert beginning at 7 p.m.
  • Bar Harbor - Seaside Cinema Paddington will be shown at 8:06 p.m. in Agamont Park

Thursday July 27

  • Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor - Summer Reading: "Bee Creative with the Abbe Museum 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Join the Jesup to learn about tribal flags and make one to represent your family or community.
  • Ellsworth Public Library - Sailing Into History with Lavinia Wren 6 pm. to 7 p.m. Award winning author Irene M. Drago will be discussing her book Lavinia Wren and the Sailmakers in the Riverview Room.  She won a silver medal as a 2023 Next Generation Indie Book Award's finalist for Regional Fiction. Friday July 28

  • Southwest Harbor Public Library - Family Story Time 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join Ms. Chrissy for stories, songs, rhymes, books, bubbles, and more outside in our children's garden. If there is inclement weather, storytime will be held inside the library in the Holmes room
  • Jesup Memorial Library in Bar Harbor - Preschool Story and Play 10:30 a.m.
  • Ellsworth Public Library - Crafting Together 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. - Join Miss Keli and Miss Renee for a Maine-themed craft that can be done with the whole family. This will be held in the Riverview Room.
  • Ellsworth Waterfront Concert Series - The Crown Vics will be performing at the Gazebo in Ellsworth's Harbor Park at 6 p.m.
  • Milbridge - Milbridge Theater and Community Arts Center presents  The Allison Ames Band-.Music begins at 6:30 p.m.. The Milbridge Theatre Outdoor Stage is now located on the  waterfront of the Milbridge Town Marina (Bayview Rd. Milbridge)

 

Saturday July 29

  • Milbridge - Milbridge's 175th Birthday! Party Like a Lobster at Milbridge Days  All Day Long - Parade, Children's Activities, Outdoor Concert with 195th Army Band, Codfish Relay, Under the Sea Themed Family Dance and Singalong, Fireworks. For a full list of activities and times click HERE
  • Ellsworth Public Library - Pet Show 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is the Library's "Just for fun" pet show on the front lawn. This event is for all ages and all pets. There is no fee to enter. All pets should be leashed or brought in secure containers. Children under 14 should be accompanied by an adult. Costumes are highly recommended.   • Seal Cove Auto Museum: Cars and Coffee: Imports and Foreign Autos 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission to the museum and featured exhibits is free to all during the event, but donations are encouraged. Light refreshments are offered, including coffee and fresh donuts.

 

Make sure you bring bug spray, chairs and/or blankets to these outdoor activities.
