The Emmaus Shelter located in downtown Ellsworth serves everyone in Hancock County. If you or your family are in need this year, now is the time to sign up for their Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Basket program, as well as their Christmas Gift Program if you have children in your household.

Typically the Shelter provides around 80 Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Baskets to those in need. The deadline to sign up for Thanksgiving Baskets is November 17th and December 3rd for the Christmas Baskets and Christmas Gift Programs. Families in need of help may call 667-3962 to sign up.

For those who have signed up, Thanksgiving Baskets may be picked up on either November 18th or 19th from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. and Christmas Food Baskets may be picked up on December 16th or 17th from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.

The Emmaus Shelter is particularly looking for boxes of stuffing mix, and cans and jars of cranberry sauce and gravy to go into the boxes. Families and individuals wishing to donate them can drop them off at the Shelter and giver their office a call at 667-3962 to let the on call attendant know that there are donations waiting. Donations of $20 will cover the contents of 1 box.

Families wishing to request gifts for children may request up to 3 items from the list below
