Ellsworth Uses Dominant 4th Quarter to Beat MDI 76-58 [STATS/PHOTOS]

The Ellsworth Eagles used a dominant 4th Quarter, outscoring MDI 24-11 to beat the Trojans 76-58 on Senior Recognition Night in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, February 7th.

The game was broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and streamed live on Ticket TV.

The 2 teams combined for 16 3-pointers with each team sinking 8 3's on the night.

MDI jumped out to a 20-17 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter and led 34-33 at the end of the 1st Half. Ellsworth led 52-47 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

MDI was led by James Witham and Jameson Weir, with each finishing with 13 points. Spencer Laurendeau finished with 10 points. Witham had 3 3-pointers and Laurendeau had 2 3's. Cal Hodgdon, Jay Haney and Jarron Biekert each sank 1 3-pointer for MDI. The Trojans wer 2-3 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Miles Palmer with a game-high 20 points. Chance Mercier had 15 points and Hollis Grindal had 10 points. Palmer had 4 3-pointers and Grindal and Dawson Curtis each sank 2 3-pointers. Ellsworth was 8-18 from the free throw line.

MDI finishes the regular season with a 8-10 record and will play either Bucksport or Foxcroft Academy on the road in a prelim game on Wednesday, February 14th. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Ellsworth finishes the regular season with a 15-3 record and will finish 1st in the Class B North Heal Points. They will receive a bye in the prelim round and will play the winner of the #8-#9 Prelim in the Quarterfinals on Saturday morning, February 17th at 10:30 a.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Tourney 2024.That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
