The Ellsworth Eagles opened the 2018 Baseball Season with a decisive victory over the Bucksport Golden Bucks on Thursday, April 19th 14-5. The Eagles batted around in the 3rd inning putting the game away scoring 8 runs.

Coach Dan Curtis sent out ace Conner Wagstaff to the mound, and he went 4 innings, allowing 5 hits. Although he gave up 4 runs, only 2 were earned. He struck out 6 and walked 2. Bradly Smith pitched the final 3 innings, allowing 1 run, while giving up 2 hits. He struck out 3 and walked 5 on a very cold afternoon.

Sam Horne was 3-4 with a single, double and triple. Jared Hamilton had a double, Chris Barnes had 2 singles and Austin Baron had 2 singles

For Bucksport Chase Carmichael had 2 singles.

Ellsworth is now 1-0 and will play John Bapst on Saturday April 21st at home at 1PM.

Bucksport is now 0-2 and will play host to Dexter on Saturday, April 21st at 1 PM.
