The Ellsworth Eagles Baseball Team was nipped by John Bapst on Tuesday, May 24th when the Crusaders scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the game 4-3.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Bradly Smith singled to start the game and was sacrificed to 2nd base. He would score, as would Hunter Cote who walked and scored on Sam Horne's single.

Ellsworth added another run in the top of the 6th innings. Sam Horne singles and stole 2nd base. Austin Baron singled, and Jared Hamilton singled scoring Horne. The Eagles had the bases loaded with 1 out but weren't able to score anymore as the Crusaders shut them down.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, John Bapst got on the scoreboard, plating 2 runs. Lucas Harmon and Henry Dieuvehil both singled and scored.

In the bottom of the 7th Lucas Harmon hit a walk off double to score Sam Southwick and Chris Bechtel to give the Crusaders the win.

Nick Bagley pitched 6 innings for Ellsworth allowing 3 runs, 2 of which were earned. He struck out 9, walked 5 and gave up 3 hits. Avery Anderson took the loss for the Eagles.

Lucas Harmon pitched 5 innings for John Bapst, giving up 3 runs, all earned, on 6 hits while walking 3 and striking out 1. Ethan Newcomb picked up the win in relief, pitching the final 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out 1.

For Ellsworth Bradly Smith and Sam Horn were 2-4, Nick Bagley had a double, Hunter Cote, Austin Baron and Jared Hamilton each had singles for Ellsworth.

For the Crusaders, Lucas Harman and Henry Dieuvehil were 2-4.

Ellsworth is now 4-9 and plays at Washington Academy Friday, May 27th at 4:30 PM

John Bapst is 5-8 and plays host to Lee Academy Thursday, May 26th at the University of Maine at 4:30 PM
