Ellsworth Boys Beat MDI 81-50 [STATS]

The Ellsworth Boys Basketball Team beat MDI on Wednesday, December 20th, 81-50 at Katsiaficas Gymnasium. The game was much closer through 3 quarters, before Ellsworth outscored MDI 23-5 in the 4th Quarter.

The game was tied 16-16 at the end of the 1st Quarter and Ellsworth led 39-31 at the end of the 1st Half. At the end of the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth led 58-45.

Ellsworth was led by Chance Mercier who finished with 37 points. Josiah James-Chin had 10 points. The Eagles sank 8 3-pointers on the night. James-Chin had 3 3's, Mercier 2 3's, and Miles Palmer, Kaleb Conners and Hunter Boles all sank 3-pointers. Ellsworth was 5-13 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Jameson Weir with 11 points. James Witham had 9 points and Spencer Laurendeau had 9 points. The Trojans had 5 3-pointers on the evening. Witham, Cal Hodgdon, Jacob Shields, Joey Wellman-Clouse and Jarron Biekert all sank 3-pointers. MDI was 11-18 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is 3-1 while MDI is now 2-2. Both teams head to The County for games against Caribou and Presque Isle this weekend. Ellsworth will play Caribou on Friday, December 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Presque Isle on Saturday December 23 at 3:30 p.m. MDI will play at Presque Isle on Friday December 22 at 6:30 p.m. and Caribou on Saturday the 23rd at 2:30 p.m.  The MDI games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled devices.
