The Ellsworth Boy's Basketball Team defeated John Bapst at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday night, January 31st by a score of 56-31. It was the 5th consecutive victory for the Eagles, who are peaking at the right time, with the 2016 Tourney just 2 weeks away!

The Eagles jumped out to a 14-6 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Zach Harris, Nick Bagley and Dylan Kelley all had 3-pointers. Bryce Harmon and Cooper Henderson each had 2 points and Bruce St. Peter was 1-2 from the free throw line. For John Bapst, Nate Smith had 2 3-pointers.

In the 2nd Quarter, Ellsworth outscored John Bapst 12-6 to take a 26-12 lead at the end of the 1st Half. For Ellsworth, Harris had 2 more 3-pointers, Bagley had 4 points and St. Peter had 2 points. For John Bapst Austin Smith, Noah Tomah and Spencer Baron each had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, John Bapst outscored Ellsworth 15-13, but Ellsworth led after 3 Quarters, 39-27. For John Bapst Harrison Dieveuil had 6 points, Alex Mooney had a 3-pointer, Nick Lakeman had 3 points, Nate Smith had 2 points and Spencer Baron was 1-2 from the free throw line.  For Ellsworth, Nick Bagley had 8 points, Zach Harris had another 3-pointer giving him 4 for the game, and Bryce Harmon had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth outscored John Bapst 17-4. Nick Bagley had 2 3-pointers giving him 3 in the game, St. Peter had 4 points, and Harmon, Jared Hamilton and Charlie Libbey each had 2 points while Dylan Kelley went 1-2 from the free throw line. For the Crusaders JJ Higgins and Noah Tomah each had 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Nick Bagley with a game high 21 points, while Zach Harris had 12 points and Bruce St. Peter had 7 points. St. Peter had 8 rebounds and Bagley had 7 rebounds. The Eagles were 6-11 from the free throw line.

John Bapst was led by Nate Smith with 8 points while Harrison Dieveuil had 6 points. The Crusaders were 4-10 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 12-4 and finishes the season at home on Tuesday night, February 2nd against George Stevens Academy and then at MDI on Thursday, February 4th. The Ellsworth-MDI game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

The Crusaders are 5-11 and finish the season at home on Tuesday night, February 2nd against Washington Academy and then on Thursday, February 4th against Hermon.
