In the final game of the season, the Ellsworth Boy's Basketball Team came back from a double digit deficit to beat MDI 62-59 and end up with the 2nd seed, and 1 of 4 automatic byes. MDI finishes in 5th place and will host a prelim game next Wednesday, February 10th.

MDI jumped out to an early lead, with a 16-10 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Graham Good had 4 points, Russell Kropff and Riley Swanson each had a 3-pointer and Andrew Phelps, Gus Reeves and Kaleb Payson had 2 points each for MDI. For Ellsworth Bryce Harmon had 5 points, Zach Harris had a 3-pointe rand Bruce St. Peter had 2 points.

Ellsworth outscored MDI 17-14 in the 2nd Quarter and the Trojans led the Eagles 30-27 at the end of the 1st Half. For Ellsworth, St. Peter had 5 points, Nick Bagley had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Zach Harris had another 3-pointer and Kyle Golding and Harmon had 2 points. For MDI, Riley Swanson had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Graham Good had 4 points with a 3-pointer, Aaron Snurkowski had a 3-pointer, Isaiah Keene had 2 points as did Phelps for the Trojans.

MDI's lead was 43-39 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Snurkowski, Kropff and Swanson each had 3-pointers and Phelps and Keene had 2 points for MDI. But, Kropff picked up a technical foul and fouled out with 3:30 left in the 3rd Quarter. For Ellsworth, St. Peter had 6 points and Harris had 3 points while Harmon had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth made 7-12 free throws and drained 4 3-pointers in the quarter, with Kyle Golding, Zach Harris, Nick Bagley and Dylan Kelley all draining 3-pointers. For MDI Good had 9 points, Aaron Snurkowski had 5 points including a 3-pointer and Swanson had 2 points.

Ellsworth was led by Bruce St. Peter with 17 points and had 14 rebounds for the double-double. Zach Harris had 12 points and Bryce Harmon and Nick Bagley each had 10 points. Ellsworth was 17-25 from the free throw line.

For MDI, Graham Good had 17 points, Riley Swanson had 13 points and Aaron Snurkowski had 11 points. MDI was 14-19 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth as the number 2 seed will play on Saturday, February 13th at 9:05 AM against the winner of the Winslow-MCI prelim (7-10). That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

MDI, the number 5 seed, will play the number 12 seed, Hermon in a prelim game on February 10th in Bar Harbor in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio. Should MDI beat Hermon, they will play the number 4 seed Orono on Saturday, February 13th at 1:35 PM.
