EHS Girls 50 GSA 41 [BOX SCORE]

In the battle of the Eagles, the Ellsworth Eagles defeated the George Stevens Academy Eagles in a girl's bask6tball contest on Saturday, January 2, 2016, by the score of 50-41.

The Eagles were tied 11-11 at the end of the 1st Quarter. For GSA, Morgan Dauk had 9 points in the 1st Quarter, going 5-6 from the free throw line. For Ellsworth, Kate Whitney had 5 points.

At the end of the 1st Half, Ellsworth led 25-23. For Ellsworth Caitlin Bean had 5 points, and Madison Card had a 3-pointer. For GSA, Hanna Gutow had 5 points including a 3-pointer, and Dauk had 5 points, going a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line.

At the end of the 3rd Quarter, GSA led 32-30. Dauk had 7 points for GSA. For Ellsworth, Whitney had a 3-pointer.

In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth finally started hitting their free throws. Through 3 Quarters Ellsworth was 6-17 from the free throw line, but in the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth went 9-15. Card had 9 points including a 3-pointer for Ellsworth. GSA's Hanna Gutow, Margaret Brooks and Mazie Smallidge all fouled out in the 4th Quarter.

Ellsworth was led by Madison Card with 13 points, while Kate Whitney had 11 points. Samantha Mason had 8 points. Ellsworth was 15-32 from the free throw line.

GSA was led by Morgan Dauk who had a game high 24 points. GSA was 16-18 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is now 7-1 and will play at MDI on Tuesday, January 5th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.

GSA, now 6-3, plays at Deer Isle Stonington on Thursday, January 7th at 7 PM.
