Make it 7 in a row for the Ellsworth Eagle's Softball Team as they defeated the Foxcroft Academy Ponies 7-2 on Tuesday, May 17th in Dover Foxcroft.

In the bottom of the 1st inning Foxcroft Academy threatened with a runner on 1st base. Catcher Callie Hammer saw the runner had too big of a lead, and picked her off!

In the top of the 2nd inning, Ellsworth took the lead scoring 2 runs. Hannah Sargent walked and Abby Lynch and Arianna Peterson singled to load the bases. Shelby Cote was hit by a pitch to drive in the first run and then Peterson scored on a wild pitch.

In the 4th inning Cote and Peterson walked and advance to 3rd and 2nd on a wild pitch. With 2 outs, Katelynn Bagley hit a hard grounder up the middle to score both runners.

In the bottom of the 4th Foxcroft halved the lead and the score remained 4-2 Ellsworth until the top of the 7th inning. Caitlin Bean singles and scored on Callie Hammer's triple. Hammer scored on a passed ball. Sargent was hit by a pitch and moved to 2nd and 3rd on wild pitches and scored on Ariana Peterson's sacrifice bunt.

The game ended when Peterson made a terrific line drive catch!

Kate Whitney went the distance for Ellsworrth striking out 8 and walking just 1, and giving up just 4 hits.

Ellsworth, 8-2 plays at George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill on Thursday at 4:30 PM.

Foxcroft Academy is 6-4 and plays John Bapst at the University of Maine on Saturday, May 21st at 1 PM .
