Divers Recovering Stolen Vehicle from Maine Quarry [PHOTOS]
The Maine State Police Underwater Recovery Team assisted the Hancock County Sheriff's Office in recovering a stolen vehicle from a quarry in the Stonington area.
The quarry is about 90 feet deep and contains other vehicles ditched over many years. The dive team must be highly focused to locate and retrieve a specific vehicle.
The Underwater Recovery Team consists of members from Maine State Police and the Maine Marine Patrol. The team conducts searches for evidence in criminal investigations. They conduct underwater crime scene documentation and investigation.
The team also conducts search and recovery operations for victims of motor vehicle crashes, homicide, and other water related deaths. They're often called upon to search vessels and harbors in Maine as part of Homeland Security Investigations.
