The Boston Red Sox fell to the Seattle Mariners 4-3 in 10 innings on Saturday, March 30th. The Red Sox were without Rafael Devers and Kenley Jensen.

Devers missed his 2nd straight game with "shoulder soreness", but is likely to return on Sunday, and Jensen was unavailable because of "back tightness".

For the 3rd straight game to open the season Boston received a solid performance from their starting pitcher. Kutter Crawford went 6.0 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 run. He struck out 7 and walked 1.

The game was tied 1-1 at the end of 9 innings, and then Boston scored 2 runs in the 10th, before Seattle won it on a walk-off hit in the 10th, when they scored 3 runs.

Boston's offense managed just 7 hits. Ceddanne Rafaela starting in center was 2-4, scoring twice. He had a double.

Pablo Reyes, starting at 3rd base in place of Devers was 2-4.

Reese McGuire pinch-hitting had a double.

Wilyer Abreau starting in right field was 0-4, striking out 3 times and made a crucial error in the 10th inning.

Joely Rodriguez, Boston's lone left-hander, took the loss and is 0-1. Boston's 6 pitchers combined to strike out 12 Mariners.
