2021 MDI Thanksgiving Turkey Baskets – How to Sign Up, How to Donate

With the gorgeous October weather we have had, it's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is quickly approaching! As a matter of fact, it's just a month away, with Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 25th!

The MDI Thanksgiving Project, organized by the Bar Harbor Congregational Church is already signing up families on Mount Desert Island who need a Thanksgiving basket. The deadline to sign up is November 13th. Please fill out this form in order to secure a Thanksgiving Basket. Pick-up of the baskets from the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, located at 29 Mount Desert Street in Bar Harbor is

• Monday, November 22nd from 2-6 p.m. and
• Tuesday, November 23rd 8 a.m. - 12 noon

If you are unable to pick up the basket because of a lack of transportation etc., please talk to the organizers and they will make arrangements for delivery

It takes a community effort to fill the anticipated 275-300 baskets. Donations may be dropped off in the lobbies of the Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, The First and Machias Savings Bank Bar Harbor branches. There will also be a bin at the parking lot entrance to the Bar Harbor Congregational Church

Items of particular need include

• Gravy
• Cranberry Sauce
• Canned Vegetables
• Stuffing
• Cornbread/sweet bread mixes
• Canned Pumpkin Pie Mix
• Canned Evaporated Milk
• Pie Crust Mix
• Rice

They are not asking for fresh pies to be made. They will be distributing pie mixes, pie crusts and the items to make pies to the families with the boxes.

Organizers are still working out protocol for packing the food in the boxes and will reach out if help is needed packing and delivery.
