Zero My Hero! Phillips In 1st Red Sox Game Blasts Game Winner [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox were trailing 7-1 going into the 8th inning and proceeded to score 6 runs in the top of the 8th. Atlanta took the lead in the bottom of the 8th 8-7 and Brandon Phillips came up with 1 on, and 2 out and proceeded to launch a 2 run homer for his 1st hit as a Boston Red Sox!
Hector Velazquez started the game for Boston, going 4 innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 2 and walked 3. Drew Pomeranz in relief was shelled, going one third of an inning, allowing 5 runs on 3 hits walking 2.
The Red Sox used 21 players including 6 pitchers. Brandon Workman picked up the win, he's now 4-0 despite allowing the go ahead homer, at that time in the 8th inning. Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless 9th inning, striking out 2 for his 38th save.
