Wright Was Wrong Wednesday Red Sox Shelled 12-5
The Boston Red Sox lost their 1st home game of the 2017 season, losing to the Baltimore Orioles 12-5 on Wednesday, April 12th and are now 4-4 on the season. Knuckleballer Steven Wright was shelled giving up 6 runs in the 1st inning 2 in the second and allowing 4 homers before he was removed to a chorus of boos.
Wright ended up allowing 8 runs, all earned on 8 hits, 4 of them homers while striking out just 1 in 1.1 innings.
Dustin Pedroia singled and went 1-4 and extended his hitting streak to 8 games. Pablo Sandoval was 1-4 with a home run, his 2nd of the season and had 2 RBIs. Xander Bogaerts was 3-4 with 2 RBIs.
Mitch Moreland doubled and was 1-3 with 2 walks. The double, extended his streak to 7 consecutive games with a double. Only David Ortiz (2016), Jason Varitek (2004) and Bill Regan (1929) have done that.
