
UPDATE: Police Identify Woman Killed By Tractor-Trailer In Southwest Harbor
An 89-year-old woman died Tuesday when struck by a tractor-trailer in Southwest Harbor.
The tractor-trailer, operated by Delbert Horton, 56, of Bangor, was making a right hand turn onto Village Green Way from the parking area beside the Southwest Harbor Library when the accident occurred shortly before 9 a.m., according to police.
The woman, Charlotte Rich of Southwest Harbor, was walking toward Village Green Way and the passenger side of the trailer. She fell and was struck by the tires of the forward rear passenger side axle. She was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor by helicopter but later died as a result of her injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
