Winter Storm Warning for Hancock and Washington Counties – New Year’s Day

There is a Winter Storm Warning for Hancock and Washington Counties in effect from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Day, January 1st.

The National Weather Service in Caribou is expecting that the snow will begin around 2 a.m. in Ellsworth and Bar Harbor on Thursday morning. Total Storm totals look to be around 6 to 8 inches in the Ellsworth area and 8 to 12 inches on Mount Desert Island

In addition to the snow, we should expect cold temperatures. Temps will be falling into the lower 20's during the day on Thursday, and on Thursday night, lows will be 3 to 9 above, and with the wind, we should expect wind chills from minus 10 to minus 15 Thursday night.
