Although not officially winter, if you live in Southwest Harbor or Bar Harbor you should be aware of how the 2 towns are handling winter parking, overnight on the town's streets.

Southwest Harbor

There is NO overnight parking allowed on the Town's streets in Southwest Harbor. This includes any of the Town's parking lots. Anyone parking overnight is subject to having their car ticketed and towed.

Bar Harbor

Overnight parking is ALLOWED on the Town's streets between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. beginning on December 15th provided you have a winter parking permit. The permits do not cost anything, but you need to go to the Permit Portal to get your winter permit. This is the same location that you get your permit to park during the Summer.

It is very important that you include your contact information on the permit form as there will be occasional parking bans when storms are expected and after, to allow for snow removal. You'll want to follow the Town of Bar Harbor on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for parking updates!
