If you are in Waldo County, or even possibly Western Hancock County, you should be receiving a test message on your cell phone from the Waldo County Emergency Management Agency on Friday March 22nd

The test message is scheduled to be sent at 3pm on Friday, March 22nd. The message will read "This is a test of the Waldo County Wireless Emergency Alert System. No Action is required"

Don't be alarmed, this is similar to the monthly tests that radio stations do, of the Emergency Broadcasting System. The Wireless Emergency Alert system is provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  FEMA itself sent out a Presidential Alert to millions of cell phones back on October 3rd, 2018
