Two men from Machiasport have been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting at the home of a Maine State Police officer that damaged his vehicle.

Alfred "AJ" Polk, 20, and Dylan Nevala, 21, were arrested Friday morning in connection with the June 24 incident at the home of Maine State Police Sergeant Jeff Ingemi in Marshfield.

Polk is charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and Nevala is charged with hindering apprehension. Both were taken to jail Friday morning.

Police say Ingemi’s wife was awakened in the middle of the night by what sounded to be several gunshots. Multiple police officers were dispatched to the residence. Sergeant Ingemi went outside to find the window of his personal truck shattered.

Police obtained arrest warrants for the two men and executed those warrants at about 3 a.m. Friday. The search of the residences was ongoing as of Friday morning. A vehicle believed to be involved in the incident was impounded.

The arrest comes as the result of an "intense, three week, multi-agency effort."State Police were assisted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Maine Forestry Service, Maine Warden Service, Maine Marine Patrol, and the Maine Department of Motor Vehicles Investigative Division.
