The Minnesota Twins hit a pair o 2-run home runs in the 7th inning to beat the Boston Red Sox 8-6 at Fenway Park on Friday night, May 22nd, snapping Boston's 3-game winning streak.

Payton Tolle pitched 6.0 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 runs, all in the 2nd inning. He finished striking out 9 and walking 2, and left with a 6-3 lead.

But Justin Slaten came on in relief and allowed 4 hits and 4 runs, walking 1 and striking out 2 in the 7th inning. He gave up a pair of 2-run home runs blowing the save, and taking the loss. His record is 0-2.

Greg Weissert recorded the final out in the 7th inning and pitched the 8th inning allowing 1 hit. Tyler Samaniego started the 0th inning, allowing a hit and run. Tyron Guerrero made his major league debut and struck out 1 and walked 1 to close out the game.

Wilyer Abreu was 2-5 with a RBI double and single.

Willson Contreras was 1-4 with a triple, which was his 1000th career hit. He tripled on Wednesday against the Royals.

Prior to the game the Red Sox announced that Trevor Story had undergone successful sports hernia surgery.

Boston is now 22-28 and the Twins are 24-27. The 2 teams will play game 2 of the 3-game series on Saturday afternoon, May 23rd with the pregame starting at 3:10 and 1st pitched at 4:10 on WDEA AM 1370.
