Trojan Girls Win 14th Beat Orono 49-35

The MDI Girls Basketball Team beat the Orono Red Riots, 49-35 in Orono on Thursday, January 31st. The Trojans remain in 1st place in the Class B North Heal Points

MDI led 12-11 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 22-21 at the end of the 1st Half. MDI outscored Orono 15-9 to take a 37-30 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

MDI was led by Hannah Chamberlain who had 17 points including 3 3's. Julia Watras and Maddy Candage each had 9 points. Watras, Alexis Clarito, Olivia Gray and Rachelle Swanson each had a 3-pointer for the Trojans. MDI was 4-10 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Ellie Sockabasin with 15 points and Lauren Melanson had 12 points. Alyssa LaBelle had 2 3-pointers and Melanson 1 3-pointer. The Red Riots were 2-3 from the free throw line.

MDI now 14-2 has 2 games remaining. They play at home on Senior Recognition Night on Monday, February 4th and then finish up the regular season at Ellsworth on Wednesday, February 6th. Both games will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device

Orono is 5-11 and has 2 games remaining. They play at Hermon on Monday, February 4th and finish the season at Old Town on Wednesday, February 6th.
