Trojan Boys Tame Sumner Tigers 80-25 [STATS]

The MDI Boys Varsity Basketball Team beat the Sumner Tigers 80-25 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Saturday afternoon 80-25 with Joey Minutolo and Tucker James scoring their first varsity points.

MDI jumped out to a 18-6 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Brady Renault and Grady Wellman-Webster each had 4 points for MDI. Ethan Merchant, Henry Lester, Walker St. Germain, Kadin Reed and Alex Gray each had 2 points. For Sumner Austin Britton, Samuel Bunch and Jackson Bunker each had 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Sumner 27-5 to take a 45-11 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Grady Wellman-Webster had 10 points, including 2 3-pointers. Brady Renault had 9 points including 2 3-pointers. Ethan Merchant and Charlie Parker each had  3 points for the Trojans. Jackson Bunker had 4 of Sumner's 5 points with Billy Wray going 1-2 from the free throw line for the other Tiger point.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI added to their lead, outscoring Sumner 20-9 to make it 65-20 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Joey Minutolo, Maddox Laurendeau and Kadin Reed each had 4 points for MDI. Tucker James, Henry Lester and Grady Wellman-Webster each had a bucket and Renault went 2-2 from the free throw line. For Sumner Emmett Moshier had 5 points, and Jackson Bunker had 4 points.

In the 4th Quarter Alex Gray had 5 points for MDI, Lester and Reed added 4 points each and Minutolo added 2 more to his totals. For Sumner Billy Wray had Sumner's 5 points with a 3-pointer and going 2-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led Grady Wellman-Webster with 16 points. Brady Renault finished with 15 points and Kadin Reed with 10 points. The Trojans were 6-13 from the free throw line

Sumner was led by Jackson Bunker with 10 points. The Tigers were 4-9 from the free throw line.

The MDI Boys will travel to Washington Academy on Tuesday, February 9th to play the Raiders at 6:15 p.m.
