In front of their 20th sellout of the season, the Boston Red Sox hung on to beat the Miami Marlins 7-5 on Saturday afternoon, August 16th at Fenway Park.

Trevor Story had the big blast, connecting on a 3-run homer in the 3rd inning. It was his 19th of the season. Story finished 2-4. In his last 16 games dating back to July 29th he has driven in 18 runs, and is hitting .355 with 5 doubles, and 4 homers.

Roman Anthony, leading off was 2-4 with a double and walk He scored 2 runs and stole a base. Since June 28, in 39 games, he is hitting .331 with 14 doubles, 3 homers and 18 runs batted in. He has scored 32 runs.

Masataka Yoshida was 1-4 with a 2-run single in the 1st inning to give Boston a 2-0 lead.

Alex Bregman was 2-3 with a RBI single in the 4th inning to extend Boston's lead to 7-0.

Brayan Bello was cruising thru 6 innings. In the 7th inning he allowed his 2nd homer of the game and left after 6.1 innings, leading 7-2. His final line was 6.2 innings pitched, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs, striking out 2. Bello is now 9-6 on the season.

Justin Wilson closed out the 7th inning and Steven Matz pitched a hitless 8th inning. Isaiah Campbell was set to close out the game, but allowed 4 hits and 3 runs in the 9th inning. Alex Cora had to summon closer Aroldis Chapman to secure the final out and preserve the win. Chapman earned his 22nd save of the season.

Boston is now 68-56 and improved to 41-22, the 4th best home record in baseball. They are in 2nd place in the AL East, 5.0 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays, and tied with the Seattle Mariners for the top Wild Card playoff spot.

Boston and Miami play the final game of the 3-game series on Sunday afternoon, August 17th with the pregame starting at 12:35 and 1st pitch at 1:35 on AM 1370 WDEA.
