9 Fire Departments Respond to Early Morning Fire in Trenton on Monday July 27

Nine Fire Departments responded to an early morning structure fire at 67 Baxters Ledge Road in Trenton on Monday, July 27th.

The Trenton Volunteer Fire Department was toned out at approximately 4:49 a.m. and upon arrival the fire had extended through the roof.

The resident escaped the home prior to the arrival of the fire departments and was transported to the hospital by Northern Light Ambulance. A dog was rescued from the residence and was uninjured and is being taken care of by a nearby family.

Mutual aid departments from Ellsoworth, Lamoine and Hancock played a critical role in the suppression effort, working in tandem with firefighters from Trenton. The Bar Harbor Fire Department responded with a Rapid Intervention Crew to support interior operations. The Mount Desert Fire Department responded with a tanker and crew to assist with water supply operations. The District 4 Tanker Task Force responded with water resources and tankers from Sorrento, Franklin and Sullivan.

Crews remained on scene as of 10 a.m. on Monday maintaining a fire watch to ensure there were no hot spots or rekindling of the fire.

According to the Trenton Fire Department early indications suggest the fire originated on the exterior of the home, however the cause remains under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal's Office.
