Thirsty Whale for Sale for $2.795 Million

Want to own one of Bar Harbor's finest and busiest restaurant/bars? The Thirsty Whale located on 40 Cottage Street in Bar Harbor is on the market for $2.795 million.

Eden Realty is representing the sellers. The Whale has been open since 1988 and the current owners have operated it for 30 years. The building was torn down and rebuilt in 2008. It features solar panels on the roof and heat pumps.

Of course one of the issues with owning a restaurant/bar in Bar Harbor is finding help. They do have a separate property available for sale which acts as employee housing.

The best thing about buying the Thirsty Whale is that Basil and Heather will provide complete training, which would include, we assume all their great recipes including the Haddock Reuben!

Located right on Cottage Street, your close enough to have customers walking up from any of the cruise ships to have lunch at the restaurant.

Imagine the restaurant full of hungry and thirsty customers. Typically the restaurant has been serving dinner until 9:30 p.m. in the summer and then open until 1 a.m.  Most years it has been open year round providing great meals to locals.

Not only is there a fully stocked bar, but there are 14 draft beer lines

The burgers are to die for, but please don't change the Haddock Reuben Sandwich (Freuben), it's one of my favorites!

There's even a patio in the back, although I've never eaten out there.
