The Day Before the MDI Girls Gold Ball Game [PHOTOS]

It has been a fun day chronicling the trip from Bar Harbor to Portland with the MDI Girls Basketball Team, as they get ready to play Gray New Gloucester at 1PM at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland on Saturday, March 2nd.

I drove down to Bar Harbor, as I can hopefully Facebook Live the victory ride home tomorrow night! We left the school at 11, with Jay Brown driving!

Everyone was given a personalized gift bag with some snacks, water and sunglasses, even me!

You can see the Girls thought the glasses were stylish!

Given that we were on a bus filled with the MDI Girls Basketball Team, we made it as far as Holden before we made our 1st stop!

From there, we traveled to Augusta, ordering Panera to Go, so it was ready for us on our arrival! Kudos to Coach Dow who helped a lot of the younger girls with ordering online. She's obviously ordered Panera to Go before!

Coach Jay Brown needed to be fueled, and his go to choice was Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts untoasted... Raw!

We checked into our hotel, the Holiday Inn Express near the Maine Mall and it is beautiful! Thanks to Ocean Properties for helping to arrange this!

We then headed over to the Cross Insurance Arena for a little walk-through and the Girls had a 1.5 hour practice!

If you are coming down, make sure to bring a fleece or sweatshirt. The basketball court is on the ice, similar to when Maine Basketball played at Alfond Arena at UMaine, and it's colder than the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor!

At the conclusion, they all posed for a picture!

A quick trip back to the hotel and we were off for dinner at  Macaroni Grill!

Then they were dropped off for a hour of shopping at the Maine Mall! Talk about a stampede off the bus! I don't know if Ulta will ever be the same, and if there will be any product left in there! Luckily, Jay Brown dropped me off at the hotel, so I could do a little work!

Later tonight there's some pre-game tradition with a potato!

Tim and Beth Gott are here, as well as other fans! Tim had on his MDI 3-peat Gold Ball Hat and Shirt! Hopefully, it will be time to retire that hat and get a MDI Girls 4 Time Gold Ball Champion hat tomorrow!

It's been a great day! The Island Community and the families and friends of the MDI Girls Basketball Team should be very proud of them. They have handled the pressure of today well, are supportive of each other, and appear ready for tomorrow!

If you are coming down tomorrow for the game, fans and alumni are being encouraged to meet at Rivalries at 11:30 for pre-game festivities before heading to the game.

If you can't make it down, the game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 12:45. WDEA's Chris Popper will be broadcasting the game, and heading down with the Team on Friday to chronicle everything leading up to the game.

The game will also be broadcast on MPBN World at 1PM on Saturday. That is their HD-4 channel. It can be found on Spectrum on Channel 1276. It is not available on DISH or Direct-TV. MPBN will also be rebroadcasting the game on Sunday, March 3rd on Sunday March 3rd at 12 Noon. on their HD Channel. That may be found on Spectrum on Channels 1221 and 13/180. It is available on DISH and Direct-TV on Channel 12
