You may remember about one of the best feel good stories of 2012, about the New York police officer who bought a shoeless beggar a pair of boots.Too bad the story just got a very unhappy ending. It turns out that Jeffrey Hillman isn't homeless at all but in fact not only has an apartment but takes home as much as several hundred dollars a day while pretending to be homeless. Hillman freely admitted as much to a team of New York Post reporters who followed him home on the subway and then watched as he calmly counted a huge wad of bills. Not to mention that he seems to be the Imelda Marcos of the streets, with at least 30 pairs of shoes and boots. Well, it still shouldn't take away from the exemplary behavior of the NYPD's Larry DePrimo -- the officer who bought those now-famous boots. He represents the best America has to offer. People such as Jeffrey Hillman unfortunately now represent the worst.
