What a great but weird basketball season! As our broadcasts have come to an end for the 2021 season, I want to thank everyone, from our advertisers without whom we couldn't have broadcast all the varsity games, to the players, administration of both MDI and Ellsworth High Schools and to you for tuning into our broadcasts.

When we embarked on 2021 season we honestly had no idea how it was going to go. Every day was game by game, with the pandemic and the weather. We hoped we would get through the season, but had no real expectation what would happen. It was certainly "different" and quiet without the students, parents, fans and bands. With the school's live-streaming all the JV and Varsity games, it quickly became apparent that play-by would be necessary for the sub-varsity games for a better fan experience. So I stepped up and did as many as 5 games in 1 day, but the norm was 2-3 games per game day.

I’d like to thank  Mount Desert Island High School, and Ellsworth High School, the principals, athletic directors, Bunky Dow and Josh Frost, and the coaches Brent Barker, Justin Norwood, Andy Pooler and Peter Austin along with the assistant coaches

I’d like to thank the players on the MDI Girl’s, MDI Boy’s, Ellsworth Girl’s and Ellsworth Boy’s teams. You have carried yourselves with grace and dignity all season long. You followed protocol, wearing masks. You kept yourselves and teammates safe. Your hard work on the court in the practices have brought hours and hours of pleasure to myself and all your fans throughout Downeast Maine and around the world. To those seniors graduating, it’s been my honor broadcasting your games throughout the many years you were on varsity, and I have enjoyed watching you grow up into fine young men and women. Your parents, your families, your communities and more importantly you, should be very proud of yourself.

To Bonnie Popper, thank you so very much for allowing me to broadcast all the games, for making sure my green and red clothes were clean, and for doing so much, single handedly throughout the winter while I was broadcasting the games! You and I make a great team, but you are definitely the captain

Finally, to the listeners who tuned into our broadcasts  and read the stories on our website throughout the winter on WDEA AM 1370, WDEA Internet Radio, and on our free downloadable APP, and on any Alexa enabled device, thank you so very much. Driving back and forth to Ellsworth and Bar Harbor this winter was worth it, knowing that you were listening, and rooting on these players and teams. Thanks for all the kinds words personally, in emails and on Facebook. It’s because of you, that I do what I do.

Red Sox baseball has started, tune in to AM 1370 WDEA and keep your Sox on all season long!
